4 Ways to Foster Development of Coordination, Fine Motor, and Speech Skills!

Blocks of all sizes are a great tool for fostering development of fine motor, visual-motor, creativity, and coordination skills!

Building a Tower: Your child may stack blocks up in a tower formation. At 12-16 months they may just start stacking. By 3 years they may be stacking up to 10 blocks high! Practice with small wooden blocks and bigger blocks to add variety and challenge!

Making a Train, Wall, Castle, and Beyond: Your child may start to build different shapes made with blocks including a train, bridge, or wall! Get creative and try to build a house, castle, or anything your imagination can think of!

Block Bowling: Build towers of blocks and try to knock them over by rolling a ball! Stand further away and use different balls (tennis, soccer, bouncy) to knock them down and add to the challenge! Try with outdoor or larger blocks to add to the fun!

Name The Blocks: Practice counting the number of blocks, naming the colors, or use blocks with pictures on the sides to practice words and sounds! This is a fun way to get moving while practicing words and sounds!
