Beth Richardson, M.S., CCC-SLP Director, Speech Language Pathologist

Beth has over 20 years of experience in working with both adults and children with a variety of communication and feeding disorders. She is highly skilled in treating all types of communication, speech, and fluency disorders including Autism, apraxia, cleft lip and palate, Downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, and a variety of feeding/swallowing disorders. She is trained in treating both adults and children with medically complex issues. She has a special interest in providing feeding and augmentative communication services. She takes a holistic approach to feeding therapy and uses a variety of techniques and strategies that target the mealtime environment, and the sensory and motor planning systems, as well as incorporating behavioral modification strategies when needed. Beth enjoys helping clients learn ways to communicate other than speech and is highly skilled in conducting needs assessments and in designing and implementing low to high tech communication systems and training clients, educators, and aides on various types of systems.

Beth is FEES and VitalStim certified. In addition, she holds a certificate as a registered Therapeutic Listening Instructor. She is skilled in developing individualized Therapeutic Listening programs for children. Beth is experienced in helping individuals communicate using speaking valves (with trachs), sign language, and communication devices. She works closely with caregivers, family members, and other professionals to ensure all the patient’s needs are being addressed. Beth has provided outstanding therapy services in a variety of settings including hospitals (both inpatient and outpatient), home health, school, and group homes.

Beth received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from North Carolina State and went on to earn her Masters of Science in Speech Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in Raleigh with her two sons, cats, and dog Sugar.
