Every child experiences and responds to sensory information differently. Our Sensory Solutions Consultation gives caregivers dedicated time with an experienced pediatric occupational therapist to better understand their child’s sensory needs and develop practical strategies that can be used throughout everyday routines.

Sensory Solutions Consultation
When scheduling, families will identify the area they would like to focus on. Consultations may address sensory regulation, meltdowns, transitions, morning or bedtime routines, dressing and grooming, sensory seeking or avoidance, participation in community activities, attention and regulation, or creating sensory supports within the home.
Each consultation is individualized around your child and your family’s specific concerns. Depending on the area of focus, your occupational therapist may:
- Review your child’s current routines, behaviors, sensory preferences, and challenges
- Discuss patterns that may be contributing to dysregulation or difficulty participating in daily activities
- Review a short video submitted by the family ahead of the consultation, when appropriate, to better understand what is happening during a specific routine or situation
- Help identify possible sensory triggers, sensory-seeking behaviors, or environmental factors that may be affecting your child
- Recommend practical sensory strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines
- Suggest changes to the environment, schedule, or activity setup to make participation easier
- Help caregivers determine when to use movement, calming input, visual supports, breaks, or other sensory tools
- Provide ideas for sensory supports that fit your child, your home, and your family’s lifestyle
Most importantly, families will leave with a clear, concrete action plan outlining strategies to try, when and how to use them, and practical next steps. Our goal is for caregivers to leave the consultation with a better understanding of their child and strategies they feel confident putting into action right away.
What the Consultation Includes
Approximately 45–60 minutes with individualized recommendations and practical strategies for use at home and in the community.
Sensory Space Design Consultation
Creating a sensory-friendly space at home can give your child a place to regulate, recharge, move, and engage in activities that meet their individual sensory needs. Our Sensory Space Design Consultation helps families create a functional sensory space tailored specifically to their child, their home, and their everyday routines.
Before your consultation, families may submit photos or a short video of the space they would like to use. An experienced pediatric occupational therapist will review the space and talk with you about your child’s sensory preferences, regulation needs, favorite activities, safety considerations, available space, and family goals.
During the consultation, your therapist will help you determine how to best use the space and recommend appropriate sensory activities, equipment, seating, movement opportunities, calming tools, environmental modifications, and organization strategies. Recommendations are individualized to your child and can be adapted to a variety of spaces—from a dedicated sensory room to a small bedroom corner, playroom, or other area of the home.
Following the consultation, families will receive a personalized sensory space recommendation list outlining suggested strategies, equipment, and ideas discussed during the session.
What the Consultation Includes
Review of submitted photos or video, a virtual consultation with a pediatric occupational therapist, and an individualized sensory space recommendation list.
