Mary Nixon, OTD/L Occupational Therapist
Mary received her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. She has 9 years of pediatric experience in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, early intervention, teletherapy, developmental preschools, specialty schools (such as schools for visual impairments and blindness), public schools, and a number of community programs and missionary experience. Mary has worked with families of children with developmental delays and sensory processing in areas concerning (but not limited to): play and social skills, visual motor and perceptual skills, fine motor delays and handwriting difficulties, activities of daily living/self-care difficulties, feeding/picky eating concerns, sensory/self-regulation difficulties, and muscle strengthening/endurance needs. She has specialized training and certifications in Handwriting Without Tears, Therapeutic Listening, Interactive Metronome, and the Alert Program. She is skilled in assessing needs and recommendations for adaptive tools/toys and durable medical equipment, individualized education plans/504s, and home programs. Her professional interests include advocacy and accessibility for children with special needs within community settings. Mary sees clients in our Fayetteville office, local schools and daycare centers, teletherapy/homes in Fayetteville, and Hope Mills. Mary is a native of Fayetteville, NC, and has served families in Wake and Johnston counties prior to her return to Fayetteville. She is married to her best friend, has 2 sons and expecting a girl in October 2023, is active in her local church (Marked Church) in Kids Ministry and the Worship Team, and enjoys spending time with her family.
